SLIIT to host Open Day 2024 on 10th of February to highlight endless possibilities for prospective students


SLIIT will host an Open Day to showcase the limitless opportunities for prospective students as they prepare for and explore exciting future career pathways. Scheduled for February 10th, 2024, SLIIT will host a unique Open Day to showcase glimpses of the Institute’s educational opportunities, international transfer options and networks, employment opportunities, and engagement activities aimed at broadening students’ academic horizons. Open days will be held concurrently in Kandy Uni, Northern Uni, Matara centre and Kurunegala centre as well.

The Open Day is an annual calendar event that commences at 9.00 am, during which prospective students and interested individuals are given a physical campus tour. They will be able to explore and experience SLIIT facilities, such as smart classrooms and newly established state-of-the-art laboratories, sport complexes and other numerous amenities.

During the sessions, students can have interactive one-on-one sessions with alumni, and will have the opportunity to speak with well-experienced SLIIT academics. The Open Day will include detailed information on SLIIT’s undergraduate degrees in Computing, Business, Engineering, Architecture and Humanities and Sciences.

Two general sessions will be held at the SLIIT main auditorium with Deans from faculties, including Computing, Engineering, Humanities and Sciences and Business School and Head of School of Architecture. These sessions will provide students an opportunity to learn more about the programs from these experts. The first session will be held from 9 am. to 9.45 am. in Sinhala medium. The second session will take place from 3 pm to 3.45 pm and will be held in English. These sessions will be followed by interactive Q&A sessions with knowledgeable lecturers.

The day will feature three enriching sub sessions, beginning with a dedicated exploration of career guidance from 10.30 am to 11.30 am. Following this, a session on leadership skills will be conducted from 12 pm to 1 pm, offering valuable insights. The afternoon will be dedicated to professional development, scheduled from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm, providing participants with a holistic learning experience across diverse areas of expertise.

In addition to these sessions, students and visitors will have the opportunity to witness the exceptional talents of various student clubs and societies. AIESEC, ROTARACT, LEO Club, Sports Council and faculty student communities will showcase their achievements and contributions, creating a vibrant atmosphere on campus. Entertainment activities, including singing performances and live flash mobs, will add a touch of excitement and creativity to the event. Moreover, attendees can embark on engaging lab tours to explore the state-of-the-art facilities, providing firsthand insights into the cutting-edge research and technological resources available at SLIIT.
