An Advanced Level student from a prominent school in Kandy is reported to have died by suicide at his residence in Gampola, it was reported.

According to Lankadeepa Newspaper, the student had locked himself in his room and had shot himself with a firearm belonging to his father.

Preliminary investigations reveal that on the day of the incident, the student’s parents had left for work and his brother who was preparing to leave for work had found him dead and informed the Police.

The student who had obtained 8 As and a B in the GCE Ordinary Level Examination was preparing for his Advanced Level Examination in the mathematics stream.
