A new learning space
The APIIT School of Foundation Studies acquires a brand-new home-base on 12 March 2024. Located in the ultra-modern Access Towers II Office Complex on Union Place, Colombo 2, this new innovative space aims to transform the way we teach and learn. The new facility was declared open in the presence of Dr. Bharati Singh and Dr. Jobair Alam from Staffordshire University, UK.
Transformative education requires classrooms that foster collaboration and interactive learning; reconfigurable classrooms and non-traditional teaching and learning spaces at the new facility aims to foster just such a culture of synergistic and active learning.
The APIIT School of Foundation Studies aims to inspire love for learning through this modern setting to encourage young minds to express themselves and lend wings to their creativity.
What is the APIIT School of Foundation Studies?
With a focus on gearing students not just for higher education but for life, the APIIT Sri Lanka Foundation Programme is offered in three streams: Computing, Business and Law. These programmes have been carefully designed to prepare students for the respective degree programmes from Staffordshire University, UK delivered at APIIT Sri Lanka. The Foundation Programme offered by APIIT Sri Lanka fast-tracks the higher education journey of GCE O/L qualified students by providing an alternative pathway to university.
A Brief History of APIIT
The Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), Sri Lanka established in 1999, has a longstanding partnership with Staffordshire University, UK since its inception. Since then, APIIT Sri Lanka has evolved significantly to become a purpose-driven, value-centred organization committed to “inspire love for learning”.
Presently, with campuses in Colombo and Kandy, a student base of over 2,600 and an annual intake of nearly 1500 students, APIIT Sri Lanka is one of the largest providers of foreign undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Sri Lanka. APIIT Sri Lanka has produced more than 5,000 Staffordshire University graduates in the disciplines of Business, Computing and Law and has a track record of producing highly employable graduates with over 90% securing gainful employment within 3 months of graduation.
APIIT Sri Lanka also partners with NCUK to deliver internationally recognized pathway programmes through which students can reach 60+ universities in 7countries across the globe. In 2023, 9 out of 10 of the Top Achievers in South Asia for the NCUK International Foundation Year as well as the Top Achiever for South Asia were from APIIT Sri Lanka.
The APIIT City Campus
With the Business School, School of Computing and Graduate School housed in its own 6-storied premises at 388, Union Place, the Law School located on Level 3 Access Towers, Union Place and the School of Foundation Studies now situated at Access Towers II, Union Place, APIIT Sri Lanka is expanding its footprint in the locale of Colombo 2, steadily becoming a ‘City Campus’ that grows with the city – inspiring love for learning.
