Education Minister Susil Premajayantha announced today that the results of the delayed GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination will be released within the next two weeks. Speaking at a press conference held this morning, the minister assured that steps are being taken to ensure smoother scheduling of exams and school terms from the year 2025 onwards.

Minister Premajayantha revealed that the 2024 school year has faced several challenges due to delays in examinations and term schedules. However, the education ministry is now on track to correct these issues in the upcoming academic year.

“The 2025 school year will commence on January 2nd, with an additional two weeks of the third term being conducted to cover missed classes. From January 20th, the new academic year will proceed as scheduled, and we are ensuring that official uniforms, textbooks, and other necessary supplies will be ready for students in time,” he said.

He also confirmed that the long-awaited results of the GCE O/L Examination will be available within two weeks, bringing relief to thousands of students and parents. In addition, the much-delayed GCE Advanced Level (A/L) Examination is scheduled to take place on November 25, 2024. Premajayantha stressed that all preparations for the A/L exams have been finalized and will proceed without further delays.

Addressing the press, the minister emphasized that from 2025, there will be no delays in school terms, exams, or exam schedules, marking a significant improvement in the country’s education system.
