Helping Hearts 2024: AIESEC in USJ Leads a Life-Saving Blood Donation Campaign

AIESEC, the world’s largest youth-run organization, is dedicated to developing young leaders by providing opportunities for experiential learning, cultural exchange, and impactful projects. Guided by its vision of peace and achieving human potential, AIESEC empowers youth to create meaningful change in their communities.

On December 10, 2024, AIESEC at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) hosted its annual blood donation campaign, “Helping Hearts.” Held at the university premises, the event aimed to provide a steady and safe blood supply for patients in critical need. Supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, this initiative focused on saving lives while promoting equality in healthcare access.

The campaign saw an impressive turnout of volunteers, students, and donors who came together for this noble cause. AIESEC members worked tirelessly to create a supportive environment for donors, ensuring they felt comfortable throughout the process. Meanwhile, an effective awareness campaign was conducted to highlight the importance of blood donations, encouraging more people to contribute.

Healthcare professionals from the National Blood Bank played a key role in the event by ensuring the safety and efficiency of the donation process. Partnerships with sponsors and dedicated volunteers further contributed to the campaign’s success. Through collective effort, “Helping Hearts” made a lasting impact on both donors and patients, spreading the message of compassion and selflessness.

AIESEC in USJ continues to inspire young people to take the lead in meaningful initiatives that bring communities together. Campaigns like “Helping Hearts” not only save lives but also demonstrate the power of youth-driven action in creating a healthier and more equitable world for all.
