The long wait is finally over for thousands of Sri Lankan students! The GCE Advanced Level (A/L) 2024 examination results have officially been released today, April 26, 2025. This was confirmed by the Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, during a press briefing. The results are now available online, allowing students to see their performance and take the next step toward university admissions, professional courses, or entering the workforce.

What Is the GCE A/L Examination?

The General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) examination is one of the most important exams for Sri Lankan students. It is usually taken after 13 years of schooling and is a key qualification for university admission. The GCE A/L tests students in different subject streams like Science, Commerce, Arts, and Technology. This exam is crucial because it determines eligibility for higher education opportunities, scholarships, and sometimes even employment options.

Key Facts About GCE A/L 2024 Results

This year, a total of 333,183 candidates sat for the GCE A/L 2024 exam, including 253,390 school candidates and 79,793 private candidates. The exams were conducted between November 25 and December 31, 2024, at 2,312 examination centers across Sri Lanka. Practical exams for subjects like Biosystems Technology were held in early February 2025.
